Why we use information

Provide searches and purchased reports

We process submitted property addresses, order and report-access information to provide the service you request and fulfil purchases.

Operate, secure and improve CheckHarbour

We use limited first-party analytics and operational information to understand service demand, conversion, coverage patterns, failures and report usage. The analytics implementation is designed to avoid storing customer IP addresses or detailed behavioral profiles.

Accounting, fraud prevention and disputes

Relevant order and payment records may be retained where reasonably necessary for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, chargebacks, disputes and legal obligations.

Public permit information

The service uses licensed access to aggregated public building-permit records. Permit records may include names of owners or contractors and other information published by the source authority. CheckHarbour does not control or amend the underlying public record.

Who information may be shared with

  • Stripe for secure checkout and payment processing;
  • Cloudflare for hosting, serverless functions, database/storage and security infrastructure;
  • PermitStack to retrieve the permit records requested for an address;
  • professional advisers, regulators, courts or law-enforcement bodies where required or reasonably necessary by law.

We do not sell customer personal information to advertisers.

Retention

  • Private report links are designed to expire after 30 days.
  • Order and payment records are retained as reasonably required for fulfilment, accounting, fraud prevention and disputes.
  • Aggregate analytics and operational records are periodically reviewed and retained only while useful for operating and improving the service.
